Многоходовка — moremover, originally a term for chess problems of the form “checkmate in N moves”, where N ≥ 4. Eventually, it acquired the meaning of “complicated political combination”. The diminutive signifies a perceived lack of genuine political sophistication in the authors of the combination in question.
